Steinway & Sons Model M #181155

Founded by Henry Steinway (born Heinrich Steinweg) in 1853, Steinway and Sons has been the "gold standard" in pianos for well over 100 years. Their primary factory in Long Island City, New York, was opened in the late nineteenth century, and many of the original buildings along the street that is now called Steinway Place, are still in use. All Steinway pianos are still hand-buit by highly skilled workers using many of hte old-world processes and techniques taht were used by Henry Steinway and his sons.

This is a Model M (5' 7") Built in 1916. It has a walnut finish that is in great shape and should not need refinishing. All components are original and in need of updating if the instrument is to be played. The piano could be playable with only minor refurbishment, but we would prefer to restore it to its original glory.

Status: Awaiting restoration to purchaser's specifications.

Asking Price Range: $7,500 with basic refurbishment, up to $55,170 fully rebuilt

Belly analysis: Soundboard and bridges are in excellent shape. Pinblock has not yet been inspected, but the tuning pins are holding tightly - a good sign. We will be able to more closely inspect this upon disassembling the instrument. If original soundboard is retained, humidity control will be necessary after restoration.
