Active from 1849 until around 1940, Boston-based Emerson Piano Co was considered a premium American brand. Number 61883 is a 57-inch full-sized upright, built around 1890. This instrument is probably upside-down, in that the cost of its restoration is probably more than its ultimate value. But we simply couldn't bear to see it go to the scrap heap, so it awaits the right buyer, who will recognize its tremendous indirect value. The cabinet features beautiful, hand-carved decoration throughout. Fully restored, it will be an absolute showpiece, and at 57 inches will have a very full tone.

 

Status: This piano has been "stripped down" to just a shell and has been donated to a local theater company for use on stage.
